Maryland paid family leave for new parents (2026)
Maryland's paid family and medical leave program starts paying benefits on January 1, 2028; payroll contributions begin January 1, 2027. When it starts it will offer up to 12 weeks to bond with a new child, up to $1,000 a week. Until then, new parents in Maryland rely on employer leave or unpaid federal FMLA.
